Description: Research at UC has led to the development of methods of treating conditions associated with lipid oxidation or microbial proliferation which include the step of administering a composition comprising a pharmacologically effective amount of an antioxidant or antimicrobial lung surfactant protein compound. These peptides derived from lung surfactant protein compounds possess lipid oxidation inhibiting and/or antimicrobial properties.
